Kosera is a joint venture between Harvard and MIT. It is considered as one of the world's three largest massively open online courses (MOOC), along with Ed X and edited by Sebastian Thorne, a former chief executive of the Google X Institute.
Mook is a public class for listening to the world's leading universities online. It is a large-scale free education service where users interact and exchange based on Web services. 

  • Educational Purpos directors of the Stanford University Institute of Artificial Intelligence

co-founded KOSERA in April 2012. It provides an equal educational opportunity for all, and the goal is to have lectures from universities around the world in free of charge.

  • Scale

Currently, more than 100 universities from 190 countries participate in KOSERA. The number of students has surpassed 1.7 million in just one year; exceeding 22 million now. It is growing faster than Facebook. Investors were attracted to the company and attracted $ 43 million last year.

  • Class operation

Kosera operates a total of 714 courses in 25 areas such as computer science, humanities and social sciences. Among them, there are strengths in humanities, business administration and computer science. Video lectures, step-by-step tests, online assignments, and online discussions are provided by the users.

One Course lasts from 5 to 25 minutes, and there are five to six course each week. Once the student has finished the course, the student will take a Weekly Assignment. Weekend evaluation is composed of multiple choice and multiple choice lessons. Students will be able to see their score upon completion, and if students miss the deadline, the score will not be reduced or reflected. There is also a space where peers can mutually evaluate or discuss, which can compensate for the lack of space.

edX | Free online courses from the world's best universities

Google will work with Dex (edX) at a nonprofit online education institution founded by Harvard and MIT to spread MOOC online. Open source platform (OpenEdEX) -based educational site, `MOOC.org` is opened and anyone can creat and manage online courses.

  • Educational Purpose

The goal is to expand educational opportunities based on the latest technologies and to enable educators to speak to more students.

  • Scale

Edex has participated in universities in not only the United States but also in Asia and Europe, and 27 schools, including 15 recently joined schools, offer free online classes. Approximately 50 classes have already being opened are currently enrolled, and 93,000 people have registered with Eddex via the website.

In 2012, MIT and Harvard share a $ 30 million (approx. 36.4 billion won) joint venture. As of January 21, 2016, more than 650 lectures and more than 1,700 lecturers have been issued.

  • Class operation

Edex's courses are centered on humanities and social sciences, but there are lectures on science and engineering too. Students can listen on the web or download the app. Generally, students will receive a 10-week lecture and receive guidance, and if they do their project smoothly, they will receive a certificate.

Students also can listen to lectures at SNU. International Politics in the Korean Peninsula of Seoul National University Professor Cho Dong-joon is conducted in Korean and accompanied by English subtitles.
